Tongkat Ali (scientific name: Eurycoma longifolia) is a tropical tree that has other common names such as ‘Pasak Bumi’ (Indonesia), Cay Ba Binh (Vietnam), , Pin Yin: 东革阿里 or Dōng gé ālǐ (China), ‘Longjack’ (United States) and ‘Malaysian ginseng’. The Tongkat Ali tree grows naturally in the tropical rainforests of Malaysia and has been consumed from as far back as the 19th century for various health purposes.

The Kesum plant is nutritionally rich in beta-carotene, vitamin A and vitamin C as well as minerals such as potassium, calcium and phosphorus.
