Putrajaya, 4 November 2025 — Biotropics Malaysia Berhad has taken another step in advancing its long-term sustainability goals through a partnership with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Both parties signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the Sustainability Impact Study Program on Tongkat Ali and Related Products during the Festival Idea Putrajaya (FOI) 2025, held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
The collaboration reflects Biotropics’ continued commitment to responsible sourcing and scientific advancement in Malaysia’s herbal industry. Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia), one of the country’s most valuable natural resources, has long been at the centre of Biotropics’ research and product innovation.
Representing Biotropics Malaysia Berhad at the signing was Biotropics Chief Executive Officer Pn. Haliza Ramli, alongside Prof. Jalila Abu from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Through this partnership, Biotropics and UPM will jointly strengthen sustainable research frameworks, assess environmental impact, and explore new methods of ensuring the long-term viability of Tongkat Ali cultivation and production.
This initiative forms part of Biotropics Malaysia’s broader vision to preserve Malaysia’s botanical heritage while driving growth in the herbal wellness sector through science, innovation, and sustainability.

Biotropics Malaysia Berhad (Biotropics) was incorporated in February 2007 to develop and commercialise Malaysia’s bio-resources into superior natural health product. View more
